It looks sensational in the flesh.
Would I take one over a G20? Absolutely not.
I still love it nonetheless.

Not with that attitude.

Easily one of the best looking sedans on the market today.
Volvo has been very brave in resisting the urge to add loads of crazy creases and folds, a gaping grille, giant fender flares, and exaggerated power dome hood, fake floating roof, and shiny plastic in place of glass. I suspect the car’s looks will also age very gracefully, thanks to that.

I really like it, but it seems nose heavy.

THIS G20, not the Nissan Primera.

At least I have a Rio SX to go to.

As the resident nonblindedbyswedesandmazda person, it’s incredibly bland and generic.

I think so too. Neat, but plain. Front is sort of nice but it’s just corporate face.
Black is a shitty color

I may or may not have raced through Atlanta with a pre-production one with a test driver. While it was fun, and was the quickest way out of Atlanta, it is an incredibly dull car.

There’s a previous gen V60 maybe 15-20 feet behind where I’m standing in that picture.
Base silver one with the 7 spoke wheels

A new V60 showed up in town here a couple weeks ago. It’s amazing. I’m going to have a tough time making up my mind between a V60 AWD and the new turbo Outback in a year or two when it’ll be new car time.

One of those two
gets
my seal
of approval, and it ain’t the Outback.

It’s a war of seats. The plaid seats in the Volvo are amazing but the water-resistant seats in the Onyx trim of the Outback have my attention. Either way I’m getting a turbo. Life with NA engines at 7250 feet has proved to be no fun.

Looks better than the previous gen that’s for sure. I still prefer the styling on the wagons.

It’s an handsomely understated car especially in Denim b lue with the R design. It’s on my list for my next daily

Great looking car imo. Also the new V60 is sexy as hell, especially in Cross Country form .
I just wish there were more physical controls for the radio & HVAC. I don’t know if I could cope with doing everything through touchscreen & voice commands

Im not really a fan of the last gen V60. Looks too much like a jellybean for my liking. The XC70, now that I can get behind!

Isn’t the V60 build to order only? I live in Portland, OR (where Volvos are quite common) and haven’t seen a single one yet – I drive by a Volvo dealership everyday too. I too would absolutely pick the V60 over the next gen Outback (saying this as a current gen Outback owner) – but they’re going to be rarer than rare as far as I can tell, especially in the used market. So will likely command quite a premium if you can find one in the first place.

No G20 wagon, so V60 R-Design for me. I absolutely love the seats

The V90 definitely is build-to-order with the CC being the only one stocked at dealers. (I’ve seen a brown one and a light blue one in town and they rock. Lots of low-flash wealth here - Volvo wagons and Land Cruisers are very popular.) But I think the V60 may be a regular stock item, albeit in small quantities. AutoTrader is listing almost 100 of them for sale at dealer lots nationwide. Either that or some dealers are just ordering them in to test the waters.
Our Outback is a ‘13. My wife would’ve gotten a Legacy wagon over an Outback if they were still offered. The only car we seriously cross-shopped it with was the Jetta Sportwagen. At the time we couldn’t afford the V60 (and also the previous one has a pretty small cargo area for a wagon). This time around we do have the money and we will be taking a hard look at both.

Interesting - I’ve seen V90s and CCs in stock but not a single V60 yet. That car you linked is absolutley glorious. I would happily never complain about not having a manual transmission if we could have one of those in the garage. That plaid interior is beautiful too. I’m slowly convincing the wife that we don’t need leather - current Outback is a ‘16 premium (so cloth seats) after our prior subarus which all had leather. Thankfully she loves the Volvos too, so maybe if there are enough available in the used market a few years from now at a price we can afford I’ve angled things perfectly to get in to a plaid V60.
